The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has announced its readiness to release the revised results of CLAT-UG 2025 following directions from the Supreme Court of India. The revised results are expected to be published within two hours after the Supreme Court uploads its final order dated May 7, 2025.

This development came during the hearing of a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by CLAT-UG 2025 candidate Hardik Garg, who challenged discrepancies in the entrance examination. The case was heard by a bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai and Justice AG Masih.

What the Supreme Court Directed

Earlier, on May 7, the Supreme Court directed the Consortium to make specific corrections in the answer key, including:

  • Deletion of certain erroneous questions
  • Awarding of marks for disputed answers

However, the final written order of the Supreme Court had not been uploaded until May 16. During the latest hearing, the CJI assured that the order would be published the same day. The Consortium’s counsel, Advocate Arun Sri Kumar, stated that their vendor was already instructed based on the oral dictation of the order, and the revised CLAT-UG results could be released within two hours of the official upload.

Background of the CLAT-UG 2025 Controversy

The CLAT-UG 2025 exam, conducted on December 1, 2024, faced criticism over inaccuracies in the question paper. The issue reached the Delhi High Court, where a single-judge bench held that at least two answer keys were incorrect and ordered the Consortium to revise the results for affected candidates.

The Consortium challenged this order, leading to a review by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, which passed a modified ruling on April 23, 2025. Ultimately, the matter escalated to the Supreme Court, which set aside the High Court’s decision and issued fresh instructions on May 7, 2025.

Supreme Court Declines to Entertain Further Pleas

Regarding the SLP filed by the petitioner Hardik Garg, the Supreme Court declined to entertain the matter further, observing that, “This cannot go on,” indicating that repeated challenges would hinder the finality of the results.

What This Means for CLAT Aspirants

With the Supreme Court finalizing its directions and the Consortium confirming its preparedness, CLAT-UG 2025 aspirants can expect the revised results soon, possibly by the evening of May 16, 2025. Students are advised to regularly check the official CLAT website for updates.
